Programme PlanningUnderstanding where DRA programmes 'fit' within the broader context of social and economic development is likely to lead to better-designed and more financially and socially sustainable outcomes. This section provides a broad overview of methods and tools for assessing the significance of policies and institutions, the resource base status, and wider socio-economic features of communities in which DRA interventions are to take place. It includes sections on efforts to reach the Millennium Development Goals MDGs, the significance of DRA within wider Poverty Reduction Strategies and generic issues of importance such as chronic poverty and marginalisation which impact on DRA implementation and sustainability.
